The Dumb, Fat Soldiers of Our Nascent Civil War

On September 24, a gaming-addicted stoner thought he was Rambo and shot up a Dallas ICE facility. This was immoral, ill-conceived, and ineffective. Nothing about his actions brought more justice into the world. They only added to the continuing chaos and ended the lives of detainees. Oh, and he managed to make the masked thugs at ICE seem like sympathetic victims in the process!

Then, four days later, up in Chicago, nine (!) husky ICE officers did their best impression of the Cincinnati Bengals defense while wobbling in vain after a lone taunter on a bicycle.

Welcome to Civil War 2.0, a contest between dueling gaggles of out-of-shape oafs, cretins, clods, and madmen. They all think they're badass. They're all wrong. But they just might end up killing you or your loved ones as they go after each other.

Now, I'll be the first to admit that I, personally, am out of shape. Fat, even. I need to start jogging again. But you must bear this in mind: I'm a 52 year old cat lady with no illusions of participating in combat! My interest in guns is limited to the specific realms of self-defense and small game hunting. I know I'm not Rambo, and I know I'm not some sort of edge lord special operations soldier.

We need more people to wake up to the same reality.
